The Glass of Fashion

London: Weidenfeld and Nicolson, 1954. First. DJ, hardback. Beaton, Cecil. The Glass of Fashion
London: Weidenfeld and Nicolson, 1954
First edition, second impression (July 1954). A classic of the history of fashion, this work is a witty analysis of the development of fashion during the first half of the twentieth century, through the influence of designers such as Chanel and Dior, and tastemakers such as Audrey Hepburn, Diana Vreeland and Lady Diana Cooper. This work is complemented by more than 150 of Cecil’s own line drawings and 16 black and white photographs. Despite being primarily know as a photographer, Cecil Beaton authored more than thirty books in his lifetime. In original dust wrappers, chipped and worn at edges, a very good copy.
